Watch out! There’s a AI scam going around where scammers are using clips and manipulations of your voice to call loved ones asking them for bail money, emergency funds, and faking urgent situations that require you to wire money asap! Don’t fall for these scams, it is really hard to tell that they are scams because they are very accurate! Make sure that you and your family have a set password or code words that can help decipher a scam call. This scam works by scammers taking voice recordings from phone calls, social media, or other sources of audio. The scammer will then call a family member and or friend and using your voice act like you’re in a situation that’s life threatening and that they need to send money. The scammers using AI can have you say anything! Using simple audio recordings they’ll have you request the family member or friend to wire money over to the phone number that they’re calling from. In the end the scammer could walk away with a lump sum of money. They could also use this technique to get more personal information or target people around you. Stay aware and be safe out there in a new era of technology.
